When we chose the name Tokma, we drew inspiration from a humble yet powerful tool found high in the Himalayas: the T-shaped walking stick that porters use while navigating steep terrain. That stick brings stability, support, and confidence. And today, our app Tokma aims to be your digital equivalent—your ride, your guide, your companion, your safety-net.
With four core features—Ride, Guide, Companion, Security—we’re not just offering services, we’re offering support for every journey.
Below, we trace three milestone events in our story to show how we’ve turned that vision into action.
1. Launching Tokma: A New Chapter Begins

On 12 May 2025, in Kathmandu, Tokma Technologies officially introduced the Tokma App and the G-Card (an NFC-based digital card) in a landmark launch event held at the Yak & Yeti. This event signified more than a product launch; it was a statement of intent. Tokma isn’t just a niche service-it is a platform of mobility, exploration, connection, and security. The presence of industry dignitaries, strong branding, and local roots underscores our commitment to supporting users through real-world journeys.
Some of the moments included:
- The unveiling by Kulman Ghising (former Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority), who lauded the innovation as a major step for Nepal’s digital economy
- A clear positioning of the Tokma App as a “super-app” combining ride-sharing, guide services, companion networking, and safety/security features—all in one.
- The launch of the G-Card: an NFC digital card allowing users to share their personal or business details via a tap and reduce physical card-carrying.

2. Gobal Outreach & Beta Testing: Taking Support Beyond Borders

Following the launch, Tokma extended its reach via a global outreach and beta-testing phase in and around Pokhara, inviting participants from nine countries (USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Germany, France, South Korea, India, and the UK) to test and provide feedback.
Context & significance
- The global outreach indicates that Tokma is not limiting itself to a single market but is built to scale and adapt to diverse user needs.
- By inviting international testers, we’re gathering varied insights: how Ride works in different geographies, what Guide users expect, and how safety/security features translate globally.
- This phase reinforces Tokma role as not just a local app, but a global mobility + support platform.
- It also helps strengthen the brand readiness for larger events, partnerships, and visibility beyond Nepal.
3. Tomka at the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon
On 12 October 2025, the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon (VDHM) comes alive—an event of endurance, inclusion, mobility, and community. Tokma Technologies’ participation at this marquee event aligns perfectly with our four-pillar vision.
About the Event
From launch to outreach to public action, Tokma journey is about support.
- The VDHM is an AIMS-certified half-marathon with a distance of 21.097 km.
- It’s held at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi and draws tens of thousands of runners from across India and abroad.
- The 2025 edition emphasizes inclusivity: runners from senior-citizen, disability, corporate, and mass-participation categories.
Tokma Involvement is meaningful - Ride: The marathon is fundamentally about moving—one step at a time, across a route, from start to finish. Tokma Ride feature underlines this.
- Guide: For participants and spectators alike, navigating the event, understanding zones, meeting up, or tracking progress echoes the Tokma Guide function.
- Companion: Marathons are communal experiences—Tokma Companion feature aligns with this spirit of connection, whether among teammates, new friends, or shared journeys.
- Security: Safety in large public events is paramount; tracking, monitoring, and timely support—all fit into Tokma Security feature set.
- Brand-alignment: By associating with high-profile, recognisable events, Tokma reinforces its legitimacy and relevance in the mobility/safety/connection ecosystem.
Bringing It All Together
- At launch, we introduced the platform.
- In outreach, we refined and expanded the platform globally.
- In the marathon, we lived on the platform alongside communities.
Our four features—Ride, Guide, Companion, Security-aren’t separate silos; they’re interwoven. When you book a ride, you might also connect with a companion. When you explore somewhere new, you might also activate safety features. When you network, you move. And when you move, you explore. may also be matched.
